Stillness

Be still

feel the cold water against your feet

think of nothing else

be refreshed.

This water can wash away not only the dirt on your feet

but also the exhaustion of your soul.

Be still

look at the forest

marvel at the community

individual tree,

each with their own personality,

shape and hew

coming together to form this gorgeous tapestry of green.

All are needed, all essential,

from the young to the old,

from the broken to the tall,

from the evergreen to the oak.

They all give of themselves to the forest.

Their diversity is what creates unity.

Be still

feel the heat off the rock

trace the mossy lace with your finger tip,

contemplate the beauty of age.

You are sitting on something ancient and extraordinary.

This rock has stood in this place for centuries,

Its moss has taken decades to form,

the business of this world has no place here.

Be still and breath.
